Day 1 - Welcome to New York
Our journey into the splendid fall foliage of New England begins in The Big Apple. Tour departs: Grand Hyatt New York, New York City at 8:00 AM. After journeying northward into New York State’s majestic Adirondack Mountains, enjoy lunch in scenic Lake George before continuing onward to Lake Placid. We invite you to meet your fellow leaf-peepers at our welcome reception and dinner this evening.

Day 2 - Pleasant Lake Placid
Spend the entire day exploring the charming village of Lake Placid as you please, or choose to join us for a morning sightseeing tour. View the many lovely estates and impressive homes on the shores of Lake Placid during a cruise on the lake and visit the ski jumping complex that was the sport’s venue during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games.

Day 3 - Living History
Traverse Williams Notch and ferry across Lake Champlain en route to Vermont, a state justly famous for the autumnal wonderland of its dramatic fall foliage. At the Shelburne Museum, explore a 45-acre re-creation of life during the last three centuries in this part of America.

Day 4 - Famous Slopes and Famous Singers
Charming Stowe, VT lies amidst one of the most popular ski vacation areas in New England. In the autumn, its hills are alive with the vibrant reds and yellows of fall foliage. Day 5 - Green Mountains and White Mountains

Day 6 - From the Mountains to the Sea
Leave the White Mountains’ glorious fall foliage behind and enter the lush pine forests of Maine. In Portland, become acquainted with coastal New England’s favorite icon, and delicacy, the lobsta. Once a food fed only to the serving classes and families of fishermen, the humble lobster has gained a great deal of prestige in recent decades. Tonight’s hotel in Boothbay Harbor offers lovely ocean vistas.

Day 7 - Down East to Bean Town
Kennebunkport became famous for President George H. W. Bush’s summer White House, which you’ll view at Walker Point. Follow the craggy New England coastline to Portsmouth, NH for a glimpse of its 18th-century maritime grandeur before continuing on down the coast to historic Boston.

Day 8 - The Cradle of American Liberty
It was in Boston and its environs that events led to the shot heard round the world and America’s journey to liberty began. A sightseeing tour reveals some of Boston’s most famous and fascinating historic sites. Later, you may wish to walk the Freedom Trail and explore more of the fascinating threads that began to weave the tapestry of America on your own.

Day 9 - The Pilgrims of Plimoth Plantation
Step back in time into the world of the Pilgrims in this most faithfully re-created world of the 1600’s settlers on the New England coast at Plimoth Plantation. Docents, who cannot be lured out of their 17th-century personas - no matter how hard one tries - have fascinating tales to tell about what life was actually like for America’s earliest settlers.

Day 10 - The Mansions of Newport
In their day, these incredibly ornate dwellings were considered merely summer homes by the East Coast aristocracy of the Gilded Age. Newport’s famed 10-Mile Drive reveals many of these testaments to the opulent conspicuous consumption of a by-gone age. Tour The Breakers, summer cottage of the Cornelius Vanderbilt family, and, perhaps, the grandest and most elaborate of them all.

Day 11 - A Day of Contrasts / Journey Home
En route back to New York and your journey home, take a trip back in time at Connecticut’s Mystic Seaport. A faithful re-creation of a New England seaport town dependant upon whaling for its existence, Mystic Seaport provides a fascinating look at long ago lifestyle. Tour end: LaGuardia Airport at 4:00 PM; Grand Hyatt New York at 5:00 PM (traffic permitting). Allow at least 2 ½ hours for airport check-in procedures
